How This Started
I'd been building Strat and Tele copies for years, mostly building celebrity replicas (Jimmy Page, Syd Barrett, etc.) and while it was rewarding to make a musical instrument from essentially scratch, two things kept coming to mind; one, they are basically "kit" guitars that can be put together by basically anyone, and two, they are someone else's designs.
I also wanted a guitar of my own as a stage instrument that no one else had.
So in spring of 2006, I sat down at my drafting table and started drawing headstock and body shape designs, determined to come up with one or several original guitar designs. It took two years before I was satisfied with what I had on paper, now I needed to try it out in three dimensions, so throughout 2008 I built neck after neck, body after body, tailpiece designs, experimented with neck angles, wood combinations, headstock pitch, tenon designs etc.
I believe I have designed guitars that are quite unique and original yet not too bizarre, very comfortable, well balanced, and above all sound and play great! |
